Great Day for Hawk Watching!
Hawk Watch September 14th
The birds really out numbered the watchers at the Anstett Farm field Saturday. It was a great day! 340 Broad-Wings were counted as they migrated south following the storms this week. Watchers also spotted 5 Sharp-Shinned Hawks, 11 Turkey Vultures and a Bald Eagle. The migration will continue for the next few days. If you have the time and binoculars find yourself a hill to sit on and watch for these amazing wind riders. Watchers were lucky when the Bald Eagle flew down low for the photos below. Hawks will look like black specks in the sky as they follow each other, sometimes kettling or spiraling through an updraft.
